Early Action is a non-binding, unrestrictive admission plan. We aim to release decisions by the end of January. We may deny admission, offer admission, or defer the application. A deferred application will be evaluated again during the Regularly Decision review.
Students who are admitted under Early Action have until May 1 to make their deposit and reserve a seat in the first-year class.
International students will be required to submit the Financial Guarantee Form if they are admitted and decide to accept the offer of admission. Please see the international student page on the Office of Admission website.
If you wish to claim entitlement to Virginia in-state educational privileges pursuant to the Code of Virginia, Section 23-7.4, you must complete the second half of the U.Va. Supplement to the Common Application and fax supporting documents to 434-982-2663. See the Office of Virginia Status website for more information.
Within five business days of submitting the Common Application to U.Va., you should receive an email from the uvaapplicationinfo@virginia.edu containing your U.Va. Computing ID, U.Va. Student System ID, and a link to the login page for the University of Virginia Student Information System.
After you access the login page, click “Get Password” link. The “Obtain Your U.Va. Password” page will display. Complete the form and use the U.Va. Computing ID and U.Va. Student System ID that was emailed to you. Be sure that you enter into these fields information that matches exactly the information you provided on your Common Application. Once you provide this information, you will receive your U.Va. applicant password. If you ever forget or misplace your password for your account, you can retrieve it by following this same process.
Once you have gotten your password, go back to the Student Information login page and click the button that reads “Student System Login.” You will be taken to a new page where you can enter your Computing ID and password to access your Student Center account page.
Once you enter the Student Center you will see a “To Do List” on the right-hand side of the page, listing remaining items required to complete your application to U.Va. It is important that you check your “To Do List” often to make sure you have completed all the components of your application.
At the bottom of your Student Center page, under the Admissions section heading, you can see your admission decision on April 1 (keep an eye on the admission blog to see if we will release decisions early). You can also use the Student Center to update personal information (address, phone, email, etc.) as needed.
If you have not received an email within five business days of submitting the Common Application to U.Va., first check to be sure that the email is not in your spam file in your email account, then contact the Help Desk at 434-924-HELP or 4help@virginia.edu for assistance.
