Early Action

Early Action is a non-binding, unrestrictive admission plan. Students who are admitted under Early Action have until May 1 to make their deposit and reserve a seat in the first-year class.

We aim to release decisions by the end of January.  We may deny admission, offer admission, or defer the application.  A deferred application will be evaluated again during the Regular Decision review.

International Students and Non-Permanent Residents of the United States

International students will be required to submit the Financial Guarantee Form if they are admitted and decide to accept the offer of admission. Please see the international student page on the Office of Admission website.

Domicile Information/In-State Student Status

If you wish to claim entitlement to Virginia in-state educational privileges pursuant to the Code of Virginia, Section 23-7.4, you must complete the second half of the U.Va. Supplement to the Common Application. If supporting documents are requested after an application is submitted, fax them to 434-982-2663. See the Office of Virginia Status website for more information.

After You Submit Your Application

Within five business days of submitting an application, you should receive an email from the uvaapplicationinfo@virginia.edu containing your UVA Computing ID, UVA Student System ID, and a link to the login page for the University of Virginia Student Information System (SIS).

Accessing the Student Information System

After you access the login page, click “Get Password” link. The “Obtain Your UVA Password” page will display. Complete the form and use the Computing ID and Student System ID that was emailed to you.  Once you provide this information, you will receive your applicant password. If you ever forget or misplace your password for your account, you can retrieve it by following this same process.

Once you login, you will see a “To Do List” on the right-hand side of the page, listing remaining items required to complete your application to UVA. It can take several weeks to check all credentials in after the deadline. Check your “To Do List” often to see updates and monitor your email account for requests from the Office of Admission for documents.

If you have not received an email within five business days of submitting an application, first check to be sure that the email is not in your spam file in your email account, then contact the Help Desk at 434-924-HELP or 4help@virginia.edu for assistance.

Admission Decisions

Early Action decisions will be posted all at once, by the end of January. Regular Decision decisions will be posted all at once, by the end of March. Keep an eye on the admission blog for announcements about the exact dates. On notification day, you can see your admission decision by clicking "view decision" at the bottom of the Student Center screen. You can also use the Student Center to update personal information (address, phone, email, etc.) as needed.
